The thread that started under this name got me thinking about my modem and my SE/30 and how well they may not be working together.
I'm using a 28.8 Global Village Fax modem. I was using a 56k Global Village, but it wouldn't stay connected for more than a few minutes. (The 56k modem in my G4 doesn't have this problem and my phone line sustains 48k for quite some time) I seem to recall that GV modems are more software based than hardware based than other brands (if I'm wrong on this, I'm hoping someone will clear up my slanderous remark). I'm wondering if getting a different make moedem, even at the same speed, will speed things up a bit. I don't expect my SE/30 to ever keep pace with the G4 or any of my other faster machines, but if buying a 10 or 20 buck modem may give a little boost, why not?
