My very first soldering experience.

Getting impatient waiting for a reaction from that US online battery
shop mentioned in earlier post, I thought about putting together my
own 4.5 battery that fitted the plus pram battery compartment.
I bought 3 flat 1.5 V batteries {model button; Varta V625U LR9
Alkaline 1.5 V) put them on top of each other and winded isolation
tape around them. Here was my 4.5 battery. Now their was the problem
of the limited height of this battery. My self made 4.5 volt battery
could rest on the +pole, but I needed to connect it to the -pole by
means of a small wire. This meant soldering one end of the wire to
the top (-pole) of the battery and one end to the -pole of the plus
pram battery compartment. Another purchase was needed: a soldering
Iron. I went to the 'Kijkshop' and bought a small plastic briefcase
containing a soldering iron, a soldering pistol and all kinds of
nifty tools like something to strip wires, a device to keep things in
place, some screwdrivers (one of them with a small lamp inside) and
some other stuff. What great fun!
At home I managed to connect both ends of the wire with an easy
melting metal (also provided in the plastic briefcase) and voila! The
pram battery was functioning.
I set the pram stuff (time, networking, mouse speed) in the control
panel of the Plus, turned it off, waited a few minutes, turned it
back on... And what do you know... The computer remembered all
settings! It worked! No more Plus Pram battery searching for me!
