Yo compacters everywhere, Wudda story. Folks, I went missing here for ten days or so. After My wife's ankle surgery, I have been playing care giver. I actually thought this would allow me to goof off on my Mac a lot while being close to her to meet her every need. I haven't had the time to goof off. For the first time in ten days, I try to get back on my eMail via my Prodigy webmail access and NO WAY is it going to work. My main Mac here is my 2400 Powerbook still running MacOS 8.1 with MSIE 4.5. This has been a very usable combination for me for well over three years back to my early days with my now defunct Metricom Ricochet wireless online ISP service.
Yesterday, and again today, this trusty combination would no longer get me eMail access via my Prodigy webmail access. Yup, Prodigy tells me that MSIE 4.5 is just to ancient to access my eMail via their webmail access. Politely I feign writing down the website Prodigy tech support suggests for downloading a newer version of MSIE. Then, as a last use of MSIE 4.5. I key in icab.de/ and whack the return key. Thirteen minutes on my slow modem, a brief bit of configuration, and here I am back on my eMail via my Prodigy webmail access. iCab, bye the waye, does not smile on any part of the Prodigy website. iCab and Prodigy seem to work okay together. iCab just does not smile at Prodigy at all. I say iCab and Prodigy seem to work okay as I am still trying learn the iCab idiom and get all of the preferences set up with my goal to speed things up. Preferences in any program can slow things terribly. I am up to walking speed now. Running should be soon. To those of you on this forum who I owe pieces and software for your compacts to, they are coming. I am very slowly recovering time to goof off with my Mac. The ankle mending is going very well. I have a lot of messages backed up and I gotta get to 'em. Bill -- Compact Macs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/>.
