The monitor on my 550 (with a 575 board upgrade) has been randomly
flickering slightly for over a year now, just dimming slightly for a
fraction of a second now and then, but now it seems to be getting
worse. It used to be a very subtle "did I just see that?" dimming
effect, but now it's noticeable enough to be distracting and somewhat
worrisome. It never goes really dark; it's more like someone invisible
is playing with its brightness control switches. It's been this bad
before and cleared up again, but I'm worried that it means something's
about to fail, to the point that I've started checking the thrift stores
for another 5XX series so I'll have spare parts. What could this be?
Monitor, video board, power supply? Or could it be nothing at all to
worry about, just random electrical interference? The image doesn't
shrink at the edges, it just dims for a moment.
