Although on a re-read, the original poster wants to use a PC as one end, so
SplitIt! isn't a lot of help=8-P

Later versions of Stuffit Expander can read .zip files, and eg (PC) WinZip
will split zip files across floppies. Don't know which version  Stuffit
added this capability, tho'.
