<quote> If you get a blinking orange light on the front of the monitor when you hook it to your Mac's video card and the Mac is on and the driver is loaded, you've got a dead monitor. The black residue is a sign of heavy use. Most residue is light brown or non-existent. That black stuff may, if it's accompanied by a burned smell, spell the death of the flyback and maybe other components as well. Jeff </QUOTE> OK, inside the monitor smells kinda sweet like mary jane (something I know nothign about) an dI checked the Pickles link, its nothign like that, according to sony if I get a blinking orange light (which I get) then something is wrong with the monitor, it seems to start ok but then goes to sleep as if not getting a signal, even when I KNOW its getting a signal, um its a 20 inch monitor, would the fly back be terrribly exspensive to replace? I have no idea, I thought these sized monitors costed two or three sould AND an arm and a leg... I got it for free so yeah, and the front of the screen is fine and the case looks good, no yellowing or bad scartches... kinda wanted to not give up without a fight... -Joe ________________________________________________________________ Sign Up for Juno Platinum Internet Access Today Only $9.95 per month!
