Thanks, pickle(or do you prefer 'The pickle'). That got me started, but here's a follow up question: The programs available at the address above are designed to network with an online server through TCP/IP. Would it be possible to mimic that server on a local talk network so that I could do something more like what I want. (If I murdered the terminology there let me know and I'll try to express myself better) I'm thinking of something like hooking all of my 12 'something or other' Macs together using one as a server and inviting a bunch of snooty chess friends over to sip Absente, smoke Cigarillo's(sp), play chess, and discuss the issues of the day. You know, rather than being so droll as to use actual chess boards. I would prefer the solution to be free(ie. using the built in networking abilities of OS 7.x to 9.1). -tglaab -- Compact Macs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/>.
