Yes, it _can_ be done - 800 x 600 on the built-in screen of a CC.

Japanese enthusiasts worked out how to get SVGA on a 575 (which is  
normally VGA only).

http://gabezing.sytes.net/SVGA2.html describes the process - Babelfish  
may help.

http://www.voy.com/24978/8/333.html summarises what's required on the  
575's logic board.

So, put a 575 logic board, a 575 analogue board and a 575 yoke (this  
last part is crucial to get a display that fills the screen), in a CC,  
and you can have 800 x 600 on its 10" CRT.

I must admit, however, that my middle-aged eyes are rather happier with  
VGA on that size of screen!  ;-)
