Well, you might be able to build such a net card which plugs into the 
ROM sockets or clips over the CPU.    But going back to the real 
world, I don't think anyone ever built such a device--CPU upgrades, 
video adapters and SCSI adapters (for the 512KE) but not network 
adapters.
