I used to work at Apple and someone told me that in the olden days movie and TV people used Mac's because the refresh rate of Mac screens were in sync with Movie and TV equipment so you would not get the walking screen you see when you point a video camera at a PC.
This is no longer the case with PC's doing higher refresh rates, I guess the Mac's just stuck around. Of course they look better as well.
