Hi folks...

I read through the FAQ, but I wasn't clear on parts of it and was hoping to
get some clarification direct from the listmembers... here's my situation.

I've just been given a Mac SE, with 4 mb RAM, 20 MB hard drive, but only
800KB floppy drive. All of the other machines in my house are wintels, and
I'm a total Mac newbie.

Unfortunately, the system diskettes are corrupted. I've already downloaded
800K image files for system 6.08, but from what I'm reading, there's no way
for me to get those images onto the Mac, since I can't write to a Mac 800KB
diskette from my PC (?)

Is there an easy way to determine whether this motherboard will accept an
FDHD or Superdrive (assuming I can find one somewhere)? That would solve my
system problems in short order.

Ideally, I'd like to connect the Mac to the internet, but through an
ethernet card (which one?) connected to my hub rather than a modem.

I apologize if I'm the umpteenth person to ask this sort of stuff, but I'm
just wondering if it's worth the effort to try and get this venerable old
beastie up & running or not.

Cheers,
Wade
