To all,
I need some help here. I have already posed the question to both
whatever remains of Daystar and Stuart Bell. Here goes:
I recently purchased a Daystar Value 040 card through eBay.
Allegedly it
works in a Color Classic but I found that the CC's plastic battery
housing is decidedly in the way and flexes the card upward. It
does work in an LC or LC II. Upon removing the upper half of the
battery housing and the card's attached 128k cache I managed to make a
decent contact but the card was still flexed somewhat. Powering up the
CC yielded nothing save the power supply and fan turning on - no chimes,
video or anything else. I had already loaded the QuadControl 2.3
Control Panel. Removing the card from the mobo resulted in a normal
startup.
Any ideas if this was ever intended for the CC? My only thoughts
are that it would work if there was a "riser" adapter for the PDS slot
that would give adequate clearance for the board. Anyone out there ever
had any experience with this card? Thanks!
Hal
