Hi again!

First of all, thank you for your help with my previous questions. Now I
have all the software I want (and a bit more :-) ) for my Classic.

I have recently adquired a 540 Mb SCSI hard drive looking to connect it to
my Classic, and (as I only have experience with ATA/IDE drives) I have some
questions. The drive is a Quantum ProDrive Empire disk, model EM54S. It has
a 50-pin connector (8-bit SCSI?), and as far as I have seen in the web, an
internal terminator cofigurable by a jumper.

1) What kind of cable do I need to connect the drive to the Classic? Is it
a standard cable for external SCSI drives, or is it Apple-specific? I know
that appart from the cable I will need to supply power to the drive - I
plan to use an old PC power supply to do that.

2) Is there any limit in the disk capacity the Classic can address? I'm
running System 6.0.7 from the Classic's internal 40 Mb disk. Does my System
version support partitioning the disk? Should I partition it in order to
access the full size (i.e., if there is a limit to the partition size)?

3) What SCSI ID should I give to the new drive? I have heard that SCSI IDs
1 and 7 are used by the internal drive and the SCSI controller - is it
right? I would want to keep booting from the internal drive, and be able to
move the (new) external drive from the Mac to one of my PCs (in order to
transfer larger files using TransMac).

4) I have heard that SCSI bus needs a terminator in each end. Is this true?
Should I activate the internal terminator in the new drive?

5) Is there any other thing I have to take into account before trying to
setup it?

6) For curiosity - is there a way to put two internal hard drives inside
the Classic along with the floppy disk drive? Or should I remove it to do
that?

7) I have paid 10 Euros (about $10) for the drive. Is it a fair price?
(This is the less important question - after all, I have paid it yet, and
nothing can be done...)

Greetings,

Antonio Rodrguez (Grijan)
