I am no expert, by any means. But, you can add pc floppy support by copying over the proper files over from the extensions folder of one of your other macs that has it. Preferably one that is running OS 7.6 or earlier. There should be 4 files. you will recognize the primary per it is named 'pc compatibility' or something similar, with the file having a floppy with pc on it as the icon, for lack of a better word. The other three 'icons' are shaped like a large 'x'. One is names 'foreign file access', I believe, and I forget he name of the others. I have done this many times per it saves a lot of headaches having to re-format a floppy and re-create the floppy. There may be a control panel you will need to bring over as well. All the files should fit on one floppy and you may want to keep it handy for adding pc floppy support to other macs that lack it.

It varied from Mac OS to Mac OS, eventually being part of the system. Cue the experts to remind us how PC-floppy compatibility evolved: -- Compact Macs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/>.
