be very very very careful. LocalTalk may use phone connectors, but it is 
not compatible to the phone network. If you plug your phone line 
directly to the localTalk adapter of your mac you may cause lasting 
damage to the mac's printer port.

Before trying, make double sure the phone net is disconnected at the 
other end and is not goind to be reconnected by mistake.
