Yo compacters everywhere, Our Antonio Rodrguez (Grijan) sez:
<<In my Classic, I have MultiFinder turned on always (I love to open several applications at once). Because I have "only" 2 Mb of RAM, I'm always looking at the Finder's about box, to control memory usage.>> Shortly after my first Mac, the "Shareware 4000 Vault" CD walked into my hands with many software toys useful to our compact Macs on that disk. One tiny application, FreeRamPlus 1.1, has been on every one of my Macs proving most useful. FreeRamPlus is an application of 16 KB with a RAM appetite of 46 KB. Most of the time, its bar in the "About this Macintosh" window is maybe half used suggesting it will run in even less RAM. For this amount of RAM, you get a tiny movable floating palette which I place above and to the right of my hard drive icon. In that floating palette is a running account of how much RAM in 1 KB increments I have available. This is very handy to judge if double clicking on something is a good idea or folly. When you are actually out of RAM, it reads "IT'S ALL GONE!". If you have a floppy mounted, it will tell you the amount of free space on the floppy as well. I've run it on an SE to an iMac. FreeRamPlus was shareware when I happily paid for it years ago. Might it be freeware or abandonware by now? Try it. You will like it. Bill -- Compact Macs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/>.
