there are differences in the wear-and-tear on motherboards of all computers.

Is there a sign of high heat damage anywhere on the motherboard?  Note
discolored areas on components or the top or bottom of the board.

I'd want to check the actual voltage coming out of the power supply. That
motherboard may not want to run at the voltage it's set at.

And, since speed is mostly in the hands of the CPU and it's guardian
oscillators and resistors, etc., if these are wearing out, replacement of
the individual components is a possible option, albeit a tedious one. But
since these motherboards aren't as plentiful as they were, once, this is
probably going to be necessary.
