There was a card available from Micron called the Xceed that was a video out card for the SE/30. They also had an optional card that replaced the little board at the back of the CRT that, when used with their color video out card, enabled greyscale video on the internal CRT. Installation required a new wiring bit as well, connecting both cards to the analog board.

They are very rare nowadays. I've had mine for about 7 years and transplanted it into 3 different SE/30s.

I just finished putting the Asante ethernet card and the Xceed card back in. Everything is woprking great. I just need to get a mounting plate to mount the ethernet jack to the back of the case.

So far, so good. :-)

It's absolutely amazing the things one little tiny insignificant expansion slot on a Compact Mac can do..... I never even used mine when I had a SD SE (40mb hdd, ~8MB RAM, Sys 7.5.3, etc)... but then the tube broke when I dropped it (SMART!) and I had to kiss it good-bye :-(

What's this I keep hearing about a greyscale video card? Are you telling me that little 9" tube can do greyscale as well? I thought that was up to the analog circuitry!

I probably should have joined this list many moons ago, but am just
getting around to it now. I've had macs since the Plus and have owned
(and occasionally used) an SE/30 since the early 1990s. My current
SE/30 is set up with 32MB ram, the original 40MB drive (I like that
the activity light actually works), a Daystar Powercache SE/30 40mHz
CPU and an Xceed greyscale card.

I also have an internal Ethernet card that I haven't installed yet. I
got a 90 degree adapter to use on the pass-thru of the Ethernet card,
so, in theory, I can install the Ethernet and the Xceed cards. I
remember trying this a few years ago unsuccessfully, but maybe I'll
have better luck on my next attempt. My goal is to have all 3 cards
up and running at the same time, though that might be asking too much
of the power supply.

I trust you're familiar with http://home.earthlink.net/~gamba2/se30_pds_multiple.html

I hadn't seen that page actually. Anyone have the SlotInfo app? The
download link appears to be dead.
