special-formatted floppy, and then load the System Software from another
floppy.
Have you considered fitting Mac 512K or Plus ROMs? The article at LEM mentions that Unitron prototypes used them and it may get the machine booting for now. If the Unitron ROM is a reverse engineer of the Mac ROM, the original can't do any harm.
