I realized that the SE/30 is a lot liek the II CI, and I took the ram from my IICI and put it in my SE/30 to bring it to 8Mb and was wondering if the cache card of the IICI will work in my SE/30?
the socket looks very similar if not identical...
The cache for a IIci plugs into the IIci's PDS slot. The SE/30 also has a PDS slot, but it is wired differently. The physical connector is the same as the IIci's but the pins inside are wired up differently, so cards that plug into the IIci's PDS slot will not work in the SE/30 and may cause damage to the card or the slot if you try.
I'm not sure what ROM has to do with anything. The ROM in the IIci is soldered down to the motherboard. The ROM in the SE/30 is on a special SIMM. The cache for the IIci certainly won't plug into the ROM SIMM socket.
