Check volume setting in the Control Strip or Sound control panel.

Plug in a set of headphones to the headphone jack to see if there is sound then. Sometimes the sound out jack gets wonky and won't pass sound through to the speaker.

A simple way to check the sound is to pull up the Page Setup dialog (in any program) and click outside the dialog. This causes an error beep.
