I am running AppleWorks 5 on my LC 520. I want to get
rid of the grey backgrounding behind the white text in
the WP. I also want the application, at launch, to
open hiding the ruler, and without the faint "page
outline" on the screen. Now, I've already made
Stationary that sets these things, BUT, then I have to
go through the whole business of the Welcome Screen
just to select the Stationary. I want this Stationary
to be the default at launch, without all the extra
selecting.

Also, another strange thing. I cannot seem to use an
AppleWorks alias on the desktop to open documents
dropped onto it, like I can with Word or BB Edit.
Anybody know why? I save a lot of web text documents,
and would like to use AppleWorks to open them. I am
also interested in finding or scripting Unix-to-Mac
and HTML-to-Mac cleanup commands for web texts like
one finds in BB Edit or Tex-Edit Plus [such as Soft
Wrap and Strip Control Characters]. Are these hidden
somewhere in AppleWorks 5, do they exist in later
versions, or is this simply not possible?

Finally, my LC 520 came with the archaic CD Caddy. Si
there any way I can swap in a regular CD-ROM with the
outside drawer button? Or even install a SCSI CD burner?
