Hi ,

Not even a whisper from this question posted a few days ago.....hope it's
not "off-list"?

Also, I want to venture from being a non-techie to a some sort of techie.

As I understand, the Larry Pina books are good place to start.

Please are their any recommendations you experts could suggest on which book
to start off with first, 2nd etc....... or other authors.
I'm "playing" with 128K, 512K, 512ke, Plus and Classic units - might as well
include SE 's as well ( whew! )

Entirely on-list, IMHO, and apart from Dan's, mine is the only 'O' that counts, since my knighthood! ;-)

The 3 Pina books I have are:

1. Dead Mac Scrolls, 2 Macintosh Repair and Upgrade Secrets, 3. Mac Classic and SE Repair and Upgrdae Secrets.

While there is some overlap, all 3 are worth having for the truly compact-obsessive.

1. Suffers from too much cut-and-paste and obsession with uniform page layout. It could be half the length. But it does list almost every conceivable early Mac fault inc monitors and printers, up to the Mac II, inc the SE/30.

2 Is, IMHO, far better. It has photos! More compact-centric. Up to SE, inc Lisa!

3. Is obviously no use for the Plus and earlier. It's very good on SEs and Classics inc CIIs and SE/30s

Since you need to grab every Pina you come across, suggesting an order of acquisition is a bit theoretical, but if you saw all three at once, my personal order would be 2, 3, 1, despite the 'cult' attached to 1.
