>Any comments on cutting up an SE CRT?

Should be easy and safe. One of the horrors that happens all to frequently
while futzing inside a compact is the dreaded "hiss of doom". This is the
accidental breaking of that little tit of glass at the extreme back of the
CRT. This vents the CRT filling it with whatever air is in the room with
you when you hear this hiss of doom. At this point, you can wrap the now
dead CRT in a wool blanket or other suitable cover and whack it's neck with
a mallet. From here, you should have success in nibbling the remainder of
the glass away. The big part is very tough glass. As always about broken
glass: Be careful. Bye the waye: I don't think you are going to be able to
see through the front of the CRT even after you have opened it up. Please
tell us what you find.

Bill

Might a Dremel tool be useful for "trimming" the extra glass away? With the
right bit on it, I would think it would cut thru the glass nicely. Cleaning
the CRT surface is another story. Would have to "seal" it with something.

But it sure is an interesting idea. Got two dead SE/30's I might take a ummm
crack at :)

Cheers!
