hey everyone

i recently got a 512k that does an interesting trick when you turn it on:
it displays kind of a warped checkerboard pattern as opposed to the usual
desktop background. i don't get the poweron tone either... just a little
fizzle from the speaker. has anyone seen anything like this before?

I dont recommend you do this to a 512k but I have a Classic II that did the same thing, I heard that washing the motherboard in warm soapy water and then drying it off works.
Being a bit skeptical I didnt try it immediatly until I got bored one day and decided to try it.
After washing it with soap flakes and drying it off in front of a dehumidifier it worked and still is working perfectly.

Oh yeah if you do try this dont forget to pull any pram battery from the board first.
