I need to run a PASCO SCSI interface on the computer. This device uses many
different probes (4 digital and 3 analog) so I can measure temperature, pH,
dissolved O2, etc. It is AC powered. I could use a 520c powerbook, but I
would still have to power the interface. I'm thinking the most efficient
way to do this would be to power the computer and interface through a full
wave DC to AC power inverter connected to a deep cycle marine battery. I
have been working on the SE-30 and now have 20 MB of RAM using system 7.1
(bought some 16 MB SIMMS but they would not work in the machine??). It will
also run the latest version of the PASCO Science Workshop software
(surprisingly). I have plenty of willing student to carry the equipment to
various ponds and streams in my area.

I have never used a set-up like this and am anxious for any helpful input.

The laptop would likely still be the better bet. It runs on less power than the SE/30.
