Alas, all my 7100's (I've owned about four of them) were tray loaders....

I bet there were some caddy loaders. Apple probably had LOTS of caddy units 
around, and wanted to get rid of them....

Then again, perhaps you had a 7100 that someone had loaded a caddy unit 
into? It's certainly possible.

My 6100 also has a tray CD. 

More to the point, most of my LC 520s have caddy CD units in them; 
unfortunatey, the adapter for these devices differs from the adapter for 
the 575/80 computers. The interior connectivity is different.

Does anyone know if the interior connections can be switched - that is, the 
LC575 connection set pulled and replaced with an LC 520? Easily?
