MacTCP is nice in that it's small (not four floppies like OT), but I'm not
sure if it was ever released as freeware by Apple; they have a few updates
for it on the above site, but the original does not appear to be there.

Apple have made MacTCP 2.0.6 available for free download in at least two locations: as a component of System 7.5.3 or in the MacTCP Software Developers Kit. Both are big downloads, so unless you need them, the easiest way to get the MacTCP control panel is to ask in forums like this.


Prior to System 7.5, the only way to get MacTCP was to buy it separately or as part of a software bundle (eg MacX, eXodus and others).
