Another upgrade to consider is the installation of the IIsi ROM SIMM (fairly rare, I'm afraid) that eliminates the need for Mode32. Note that you need to perform a fresh system installation "for any Macintosh" after installing the SIMM. More information can be found on Gamba's pages.
I thought this upgrade used the IIfx rom? I looked for info on Gamba's pages but couldn't find any. This is the one remaining upgrade I haven't done on my SE/30. It currently has a Daystar Powercache w/FPU (40mhz SE/30 logic board socket version), Asante ethernet and Xceed greyscale cards. I did have to remove the external monitor port, so that I could install the ethernet jack in the back of the case, but I don't have an external monitor to hook up anyway.
According to Low End Mac, the upgrade can use a IIsi OR a IIfx ROM. And Phil, regarding the adaptor for my video output - I have a friend in Hove who's been ever so obliging and is sending me an old adaptor of his for me to try out. He's sending it today so I'll let you know if it works or not. He's also said he'll send me an unwanted LCII which is rather kind of him! If only he had a IIsi ROM lying around...
