Can you try OS X? A lot of the old games I love run perfectly with OS X and classic; but don't run at all with OS 9.
Well, no I can't.... (since I'm trying to do this on a plus)
Interestingly, I ran the game on a classic I'd set up for some kids a while ago (whilst child-minding). It runs system 6.8, and the music played on it. The music was simply in a file with the game.
Another point of note is that there was a lot more "lag time" in the game, presumably as it loaded sounds and/or images, when I played it on the classic than when I played it on the plus (albeit without music).
But the question still remains... why won't the music play on the plus??? Logic suggests that so long as the game and the music are on the same floppy, even if we boot from another, that it should work. Is this a pre-system 6 problem (i.e. with a 6.8 boot it would work)?
(I ask because, for boring reasons, I don't actually have a 6.8 boot floppy for my plus. I could make one, and should, but it would be nice to know if this were going to work before doing so. Also I'm curious as to why older systems might not play the music -- while they do play some of the sounds)
