While your are right about list protocol, this whole thread would not have exploded if you had not replied to a question specifically addressed to the list nanny.
I did reply, albeit a few hours later, simply because I was asleep at the time.
If people start debating the 'rules of the game' then the mailing list becomes a haven for barrack-room lawyers.
I would be most grateful if people would leave list nannying to me - or to deputies whom I ask to over-see the list when I'm away on holiday.
This is not a 'power thing'. It's because when other people act or make judgments it almost always ends in arguments.
When I make a judgment, people tend not to argue/ Whether it's because people respect my position, or it's simply because I have the ultimate deterrent is irrelevant!
So, folks, no more arguments about this particular matter of list etiquette, pleas. Dan makes the rules, I try to apply them fairly and consistently. I may not always succeed, but if you're not happy with that, instructions on how to unsubscribe are printed below.
