I've learned that you can go pretty big in these SE/30's as long as you're willing to partition the drive to around two gigs or thereabouts. It's also O.S. dependent. And, your SE/30 would struggle to access data from a drive bigger than 2 gigs just due to access speeds in that old a machine. Non-Apple drives give folks fits.
