Even if it is possible to get the drive to work, it would take a lot of effort, and probably would be a hack in the end. I don't think that the SE/30 can recognize more that a 2GB partition anyway, so you would have to make 4 partitions which is hardly useful. Plus, SCSI to IDE is a hack, then regular IDE to compact IDE is a pain. I suggest trying to find a better use for the drive. Who needs 8GBs on an SE/30 anyway?

The scsi>ide adapter would be better suited to a flash card hack on a se/30 if possible. Like all the threads lately, we have covered this before, its in the archive.
I agree, why would you make a file server out of any 68k mac or more to the point, why have more than 2gig on a compact mac for general use? Surely its quicker and easier to import than export from these macs, not to mention in this case cheaper. The money required would be better used elsewhere.
2.5 usb or firewire external cases are cheap and better suited to the drive, so the lombard could atleast use the drive that was bought for it.
We own a lombard so I understand its limits, still the transfer rate would be better than coming from the SE/30 and still give you some mobile option.
Raid and huge drives in old macs are nice to talk about but hold no real benifts for file sharing and would be better used on other equipment. Sure, some apps can use the space on the host computer but if there are better computers for the task in your possesion why would you bother?
