Partition size is a function of what OS the machine is running, not the Mac itself. IIRC it is 2GB up to System 7.1.x and 4GB from 7.5 - 7.6.1. From 8.0 onwards it's something huge and ridiculous.


As for what will run on each Compact, well you can find that out yourselves. I will go as far as to say you need a 32-bit clean ROM to run OS 7.6 or later.
