My se has a 68000 processor in it, is it possible to get a 68020 for it and just plunk it in? Dont know if i will, but it just came to me.
Nope. Apart from electronical incompatibility, the CPUs are shaped quite differently: rectangular for the 68000, square for the 68020 and up. To speed up your SE, you'd have to go for an accelerator of some kind (clip-on style or PDS), 68030 rather than a 68020. They appear at eBay every now and then. You can find more info at http://www.macfaq.org, http://www.lowendmac.com, http://www.xlr8yourmac.com, http://www.ee.ualberta.ca/archive/m68kfaq.html and a lot of other sources where no doubt some kind folks from this list will point you ;-)
Have fun, OM --
