It's not so strange that they've never been leaked. They're protected very, very
well. And Apple has a *lot* of lawyers. Many. Tons. More than one.

Reverse-engineering the PALs is simple, but the ROMs are another story! The
Apple team used some very clever, and complex hacks for compressing and
encrypting.

And the Plus might be stretchable to 8MB with only modest effort, but 12MB would
be far more painful than it's worth. Come to think of it, even 8MB is more
trouble than it's worth...
