Well, the results of dishwashing the motherboard are in.... To my great surprise, dishwashing the motherboard actually worked! I did NOT have high hopes at all for this procedure, as doing the simple dusting/cleaning that I did originally along with the new battery had actually seemed to have made the situation worse. This is a total shocker to me, but I'm glad my little Classic II still has life left in it. The sound still works the same as it did prior to dishwashing, too.
Next project: reviving the Macintosh Plus.
