So, my SE/30 is working again, hurrah. I've tracked down a hub with a 10baseT and a 10base2 port, and hooked it up to my network.

The computer came with System 7.0 pre-installed and, amazingly, it works. The Mac can see my G5, and vice versa.

However, I want to do a clean install of System 7.5.3. The disk isn't big enough to hold the installer (I'm getting a bigger one soon, but for now...) so I downloaded and made a Network Access boot floppy.

Annoyingly, the boot floppy networking doesn't work. On boot, I get this error:

"An error occurred while trying to start up your AppleTalk connection. The built-in LocalTalk port will be used instead."

If I open the Network control panel and try to switch back to EtherTalk, I get:

"Could not switch to EtherTalk due to an error. Your connection will be reset to LocalTalk."

But if I reboot from the hard disk, it all works fine again.

Any idea why this might be?
