The boot floppy works ok in my Hard diskless SE, so I think that is ok. Holding shift gives me the same error and I think holding the spacebar does not work on 7.1.
The exact error I get when booting off the HDD is "Not enough memory is available while using " I'll let it discharge overnight then check that the memory is seated ok tomorrow.
