A couple of things here: when I was still at home I had Linux installed on my iMac, and she dutifully confused it for Mac OS. She couldn't tell the difference, even though her Colour Classic, SE/30, and SE all ran System 7. She has since bought my iMac (so that I could afford a PowerBook), I installed Mac OS 9 on it, and she never uses it! She seems to have this philosophy; certain machines are good for certain things. Her FreeBSD box is good for the Internet. Her Colour Classic is good for her cook book. Her Wintel box (currently broken) is good for her vinyl cutter. But I do plan on forcing Mac OS (via the iMac) on my mom. How is that for CRUEL! (I would love to get them online with the Colour Classic, but that just isn't going to happen. ;-) Byron. -- Compact Macs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/>.
