Thanks for the review. I, too, would normally use a PDS or NuBus card as well, but the compact Macs are so limited on space I thought it would be more prudent than carving up a case.
There could be a couple of uses for a dualed-NIC station: 1. Router - Using the Mac as a bridge/router [or brouter - a term almost never used anymore] to bridge my old machines with my new machines and have a single connection to the internet. Granted, not the best solution considering the ubiquitous nature of the 100Mb switch these days. 2. Firewall - installing a third NIC allows the implementation of a DMZ. 3. Multi-port trunking (in the cluster world it can be known as Ethernet Bonding) - Depending on the switch, one could aggregate several NICs together to increase network speed throughput or by using one leg as receive only and the other as transmit only for a "full duplex" operation.
