yeah, it's no joke, i had the same problem, it really works !

open the mac, remove the mother board, disconnect battery, ram, roms
then wash it with a tooth brush, water and detergent

let it dry 2 days, remount it, power on, "dong" ;)

the reason why it actually works is that capacitors leaked
by washing the card, you remove the leakage, which conducts electricity, and causes some short-circuits on the mother board.


this tip is well known by the mac classic community, you will also find many references to it on the net
