Pulling the internal SCSI cable from the HD and trying again to start form
floppy will tell you. I'd guess you'll be fine and it's just a problem with
the HD driver, maybe Disk first aid (prepare a special floppy with a
minimal system and some utilities or force-boot from an external HD with
command-shift-option-delete pressed) can provide a cure. Worst case: you
loose the content of your HD if you have to re-initialize it. But I don't
think your computer is shot (now that you have all that RAM!)
