What I was trying to find, was the special updater file(s) that allowed System 7 to "see" larger drives.

Used to be on Apple's Old Software page, but I can't find that page anymore. Apple might have moved it or sumfin. As I recall, there was a (2X 800K images) 1GB firmware updater, and also a (2X 800K images) 2GB firmware updater listed. Never had any large SCSI HDs before, so this is the first time I needed them. Even with these updates (if i can find them), I'd have to partition the 4GB HD to be able to see it.

I plan to "upgrade" from 7.5.3 to 7.1 on the SE/30, to speed things up. Anyone out there have any tips for me on 7.1 with large HDs?

I assume I wipe the 4GB HD, then partition it into 1.9GB bits, and use HFS ( NOT HFS+).

I'll install 7.1 on the 4GB HD, reboot, swap all my files over from the old 250MB HD (except System 7.5.3 stuff), then I can lose the old HD, once I ascertain the new one is reliable.

sounds easy huh.
