thats true if you have the original chips, which would be quite nifty, but the upgrade , from apple, to a full mac plus status meant replacing the whole rear case.
Only the screen and faceplate are left of the original.
In the case of the Dove Computer upgrade, which this is, I would rather leave it as it is and have a spiffy 512 that believes it is a plus. :)
I probably could de-upgrade it to its 512 status, but.....nahhh, only thing looks different about it is the scsi port on the battery cover...
It works quite well..

You can see the SCSI board in the middle where the SCSI cable plugs in."MacSnap SCSI"
You can also see where the 68000 CPU is under the Dove board...
This mac works great, though currently it is sleeping in a closet.

That's a cool one, too.

I have been amazed at how many folks went the upgrade route. I think it may
explain why I get so wild about a 128k in original shape and configuration.

There's not much they can do. But they represent a rarity, which makes it all
the more necessary to preserve them.

I agree.
Thats true, I think i have at least two 128k Macintosh computers that the whole rear end was replaced by the Mac Plus upgrade. I remember at least one of them has the original model# for the 128k, M0001 or something like that, under the chin. One might have been a 512k but I don't remember as it is buried in the closet at the moment...

Indeed an unfettered 128k would be a treat to find.
