Hi Steve, I tried to disable 6.0.8 by moving the system, finder and finder startup files out of the system folder into the root level folder. But it didn't make any difference. Do you suggest a different method to disable the system?I started not being able to boot up the LC 520 with the drive attached
It almost sounds as if the 520 is trying to boot from the external drive with system 6.0.8. If you disable 6.0.8 will the 520 boot? Is the external drive terminated?
You need to separate Finder and System. If you move both into the root level, that becomes the System Folder. My preferred method is to create a folder called "Finder in here" inside the System Folder. Then I move the Finder into it. It has the advantage of appearing right where the Finder should and avoids loosing track of the Finder in the root level. It works with OS 7+ and should also work with OS 6.
When I get time I will explore more approaches. But basically I need a weekend with no other demands, and my boyfriend has me booked till Monday :-D
