Thanks to everyone for all the info. It's turned out to be kind of a fun little mystery, and I'm learning a lot of Mac history from it. I didn't find the torx driver I need at the local hardware store, so I'll hit Sears this weekend and break the box open. Maybe armed with the info on Eric's page, I'll be able to figure out what was what based on the hardware inside.

One side note is that the Guided Tour disk that came to me with the machine is a B revision, that according to Eric's page was distributed with the 128K between May and September, 1984, which fits with the May manufacture date of the serial number. The user's manual is also Rev B, and makes no mention of a 512K version on the specs page.

It would be very interesting to know just how far in advance of the product introduction they started producing 512Ks, and whether they dug into existing stocks of 128Ks and updated them to meet demand for the new machines.

Thanks again -

Tim
