Thanks...I took out all the batteries in the summer because two of them  
leaked, but the rest were fine, but anyway, I have heat upstairs, so if  
I need to use one, I'll bring it up the night before and put it in a  
room with a heating vent (the heat comes on several times at night).

The only thing I could think of as being a danger would be moisture.
Cold weather can condense the last bit of moisture in the air.  This
is why te winter is so dry.  But your basement would trap moisture
which would make it more damp than a lot of other areas of your house.
 Moisture is only a problem if you turn damp equipment on, as it can
cause shorts that could destroy the machine.  Also, from a collection
standpoint, you could end up with a mildewed case, so avoiding
moisture would be ok.
Really I think it would be fine.  Oh yeah, you may want to let them
warm up to room temperature before turning them on at the end of their
stay in your basement as cold can reduce the effectivess of the
phosphor in the picture tube.
