That worked, to turn on some leds, that is. I didn't know what settings to use for the baud, bits, parity, or stop bits, so I left them at their defaults. The two of the modem's leds turn on when the code "ATDT 555 12122" is executed, and they turn off when the code is halted. The two leds are labeled TR and SD. According to the underside of the modem's case, these mean Terminal Ready, and Send Data. While the connection is open, the Clear to Send led is lit. The voltage per led is 1.66 volts, but I don't have a scope to look around the board further. Prehaps I could use a multimeter?
