This is a super cool project that can eventually show any moron like me to create a device controller (light, alarm, camera) from scratch sort of. It would be great if you wrote a PDF at the end.

It seems to me that illuminating a couple modem LEDs, while perhaps nice to
look at during the holiday season, doesn't really serve any purpose, and is
still a very far cry from doing any kind of actual controlling of household
items.

Perhaps not finished but it's a good start. Those LED's are quite the
same as the LED's molded into an Aromat or Omron solid state relay. They
provide the optical isolation that is required and can control a tenth of
an amp at 120 volts AC.


I'm awaiting a report that Andrew has controlled a lamp you can read by.
Or perhaps one that can convert a string of ASCII text into Morse code -
the original serial data.
